In this video. We're going to go step by step on how to remove the wiper motor assembly on a 2000 Toyota Camry. Now, the tools that we're going to need for removing that wiper motor assembly are trim, stick, a ratchet. Short extension, 14 millimeter socket and a 10 millimeter socket. And we've got a couple of fashions that we're going to be dealing with and a trim panel. The wiper arms are attached to the linkage for the transmission on the motor assembly with 214 Nets. We've got a plastic rivet in the corner we've got to deal with. And we've got a piece of rubber trim that we've got to take off as well. So we have a 14 millimeter socket and a ratchet start taking the Nets loose on both wiper arms and do the same on the other wiper arm. At this point, you can grab the wipe arm assembly. It's best to kind of grab it further up the arm. That way you get a little pivoting motion as you kind of rocking it back and forth to you, finally free it up and you can lift it off the shelf and repeat the same procedure for the other one.
Now the rubber seal, it makes contact with the hood. This mounted to the cowl panel has to be pulled off. As you go down the length of it, you're going to come across in plastic fasteners that keep it latched in place using a trim stick grip on to here. You find them and you gently pry them loose. Just work your way down. Give each one of them released to finally clear about midway because we're going to be removing this section of the cowl panel so we don't have to go No further than that. Now the cowl panel that covers the wiper motor assembly is actually two pieces, and we can't remove the one that's covering the way from over here because the way they overlap, the one on the right side of the vehicle actually overlaps to the left. So it has to come off first. And the last remaining fasteners that we've got to take off before removing either one of those plastic cow panel trim pieces is a plastic rivet in each corner and this one's missing. It will show you on the other side. But if there was, you'd go into a hole right here. You just press in on the center, it releases the river, and then you can just lift up on the panel and free it from the windshield. Take it from the vehicle. Now, this is what that plastic rivet looks like up close.
Remember, it's missing on the right side. This is the one that we just took off on the left side. All it does is inserted into the washer portion as it goes through. There's supposed to be some legs right here that would spread out. So this one's missing some pieces as well, but that's typically what they look like. So if that last plastic rivet removed, all we're going to do is grab the trim panel like we did on the right side, pop it up and work it away from the windshield. So now we've got access to the waiver motor and all of the linkage transmission, depending on what you want to call it. We've got a connector. We've got a release. We've got a total of 5' Bolts around the perimeter that we've got to take off. And at that point, we can grab the assembly and remove it from the vehicle. So the first thing we're going to do is do off that connector. So if that connector, what we've got to do is we're going to squeeze them on the lock on the back side and slide it off. Reach up under, squeeze tight, pull it off.
So now we can jump to the 5 remaining fasteners which are all going to be 10. So grab your 10 millimeter socket extension and a ratchet. Start taking them loose. And then we get the other 10 millimeter that mounts the motor to the sheet metal for the firewall back here and beyond that connector, we're going to be taken off and now we're down to the last 210 millimeter right here closest to the Fender. No foreign investors remove and the Connect room plug. We can grab a whole assembly lifted up and clear the vehicle when going back. If you want from motor assembly, one thing I want to point out is the wiper blades and the pivot mechanism that they mount to are not supplying. What that means is these wiper blades can be installed in literally hundreds different positions around this piece right here. So how do you have your wipers on correctly so that when you do turn them on, they're not hitting the cowl, the hood or going off the edge of the windshield? Here's the best thing.
Go ahead and start the assembly. Turn the ignition key on, then turn the wipers on. Let the motor go through its cycle a few times. And at that time, turn the wipers off. This will place two wiper motor back into its park position. Now remove the key from the vehicle. You can come outside. You can grab your wipers and find the original markings where the last one was installed on the shaft and tighten down the nut.
