How To Detail Your Car

If you drive your car on any regular basis, you know just how dirty your car can get. If you have noticed your vehicle getting noticeably dirty, or if it has been a while since you’ve cleaned out your car, now is the best time of the year to take care of that. The cold temperatures of winter make it almost impossible to enjoy cleaning out your car, and you will most likely spend a good amount of time in your vehicle for the rest of the year. By cleaning out your car now, you can easily make your winter driving much more enjoyable for the rest of the year. Here are some of our favorite detailing tips from the DIY experts here at U Pull And Pay.

Dealing With Unpleasant Smells

One of the most difficult things to get rid of is a bad smell that lingers in your car. If you bought your car used, you may discover that a strange smell might arise even a few months after you’ve bought it. These smells can be caused by someone smoking in the vehicle, pets, animals, or even food being left in the car or getting lost under the seats. If there is smoke damage or if there is a smoke smell lingering in your car, you can try neutralizing the odor with an aerosol can of Dakota Non-Smoke. Prime your car by turning your AC on high so that the odor-eliminating properties can get into your AC system as well. Hold the can 12-14 inches away from the fabrics and lightly spray the headliner, door panels, seats, and carpets. If the smell continues to linger you can use the spray on your AC intake, change your cabin air filter, or use the spray for repeated treatments.

Cleaning Leather

If your vehicle has a leather interior, pens and spills can be your worst nightmare. The most important thing to remember is that if you notice ink or spills on your leather, you need to take care of it and clean it as soon as possible. These spills and mishaps can be easily taken care of if you have the right tools. A leather-cleaning kit is a must-have for leather interiors and can easily take care of everything from errant pen marks to stains and spills.

Removing Stickers From Your Windshield

State park stickers, parking stickers, and other stickers can pile up over time, causing your windshield to become obscured and difficult to see through. If you have expired stickers or just stickers that you would like to remove, you can easily remove them with a degreaser like Goo Gone and a plastic putty knife.

Get Rid Of Squeaky Doors

If your doors are squeaking loudly when you open them, they may be corroded shut or lacking the necessary lubricant. Spray the hinges with WD-40 to loosen the corrosion and squirt them with white lithium grease or motor oil to properly lubricate the hinges. If the squeaking persists, check your hinges to see if there is any loose metal or bent sections.
